The discipline of Fluid Mechanics is studied as a third level and presupposes the presence of in-depth knowledge of the disciplines of Higher Mathematics, Theoretical Mechanics, and Resistance of Materials.
When I was writing this book, my aim was to provide the most important and characteristic aspects of the discipline of Fluid Mechanics in an accessible and, most importantly, logical way. In this sense, the book offers a base of skills that guarantee readers fluent handling of the material.
Another distinguishing feature of the book is the careful selection of both topics and the sequence in which they are presented. I have adhered to the following methodological principle. Every new concept, every new law, and every new definition step on the foundation of previously mentioned concepts, laws, and previous definitions. In addition, in order to aid the absorption of the material, where necessary, I have used references to already used formulas and figures in other paragraphs and chapters of the book.
The figures, drawings, and diagrams are precisely drawn with text attached to them so that they provide knowledge and useful information.
Today, at the beginning of the 21st century, the great thought of Goethe (Johann Goethe, 1749-1832), “The era moves forward, but every man starts from the beginning”, sounds very relevant. It can definitely be said that readers of “A Basic Course in Fluid Mechanics” are really starting from the beginning.
The author will treat with attention and understanding all readers who, with their advice and recommendations, will contribute to the improvement of the book in the next edition.
